 Drive them crazy!

Sport and style collide with two racy new men's fragrances.

Z Zegna Design is a limited-edition eau de toilette created by motorcycle company Ducati and renowned Italian men's clothing designer Ermenegildo Zegna. It's being marketed by Yves Saint Laurent Beaute.

Women, get ready to rev up your engines.

This scent is spicy, sporty and seductive. It smells fresh and clean, like a testosterone-fuelled man who has just soaped up in the shower after leaving the competition in the dust.

Warning: don't overspray this powerful scent or you could send the nearest woman into sensory overdrive.

Z ZEGNA DESIGN, 100 mL (Price: $78) was the winner of this year's Canadian Fragrance Award for "best man's fragrance" in the best limited launch category.

It is available June 1 at The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and Ogilvy. I give this fragrance four sniffs out of five.

The other scent, Daytona 500, is a co-creation by Elizabeth Arden Fragrances and the International Speedway Corporation.

THE DAYTONA 500 EAU DE TOILETTE, 100 mL (Price: $55) contains a blend of nutmeg, cardamom, amber and sandalwood with mandarin and sage, for a fragrance that suggests the understated confidence of a seasoned winner.

It's guaranteed to get your motor running. But, guys, this scent is rather light, so you'll need to apply it generously.

Available at Sears, Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Plus stores across Canada.

First African American Million Dollar Auto Racer

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bill Lester is expected to reach yet another career milestone when he takes the green flag at Saturday's EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The start will be the 100th in Lester's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career. Earlier this season Lester became the first African-American driver in NASCAR history to pass $1 million in career earnings.

Lester has also put together a career year in 2005. He has three top-10 finishes including a career best fifth-place finish at Kansas Speedway in July. He has led laps in four races this year.

"Things have definitely been going in the right direction," Lester said. "Working with crew chief Doug Wolcott and the guys on this 22 team has really been a pleasure. The chemistry has been really strong."

In addition to the strong finishes, Lester has grabbed consecutive poles this year at Kansas and Kentucky speedways.

"Starting up front is a byproduct of what the guys at Bill Davis Racing have provided me," Lester said. "We still have some really strong races remaining this year and I think we can finish the year on a strong note."

Unlike many drivers, racing has not always been Lester's full-time job. Lester attended the University of California, Berkeley and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. After graduating, he landed a job with Hewlett-Packard as a Project Manager and spent his weekends racing. After several years, Lester finally decided that to make it in the motorsports business, he had to concentrate on it full-time.

"It was not hard to leave high technology to go racing. Racing is what I wanted to do. High technology was a means to an end. It was a way for me to get a paycheck to go racing. The only difficulty was knowing that I was going from having a paycheck every week to not knowing if I was going to have one in racing. That was a difficult decision, but with my wife's support and blessing, we were able to do it."

After four full-time seasons in the Craftsman Truck Series, Lester seems to have made the right decision. All that's missing is a coveted victory.

"I'm excited to be part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series," Lester concluded. "It is a series where there is a lot of exposure and good competition, but I have not gotten the win yet so I am unfilled."

NASCAR’S Greatest Qualifier Ever? “Rocketman”’s The Ticket

HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) -- When it comes to qualifying at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Ryan Newman is in a class by himself.
The "Rocketman," already considered NASCAR's best qualifier ever in only his fourth full season, showed the way again Friday night, winning his sixth straight Atlanta pole with a lap of 193.928 mph and posting the 34th pole of his career and seventh of the season.
"I told the team I was going for two laps if I didn't get everything on the first one," Newman said after jumping out of his No. 12 Dodge. "I ran it again and she felt pretty good. It was pretty darn close to a perfect lap. If anybody can beat it, they can have it."
Nobody came close.

Runner-up Carl Edwards, the winner here in March, was considerably slower than Newman at 193.420 -- and very impressed with the pole winner.
"I was just impressed that his first lap was four-tenths (of a second) quicker than anybody else, and his second lap was even quicker," Edwards said.
Now, if Newman can just translate his success in time trials into a strong finish in Sunday's Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500, it could help immeasurably in his effort to win his first Nextel Cup championship.
Despite Newman's qualifying heroics on one of NASCAR's fastest ovals, in seven previous races at the suburban Atlanta track he has managed just one finish better than 10th -- a fifth-place run in March 2004.
"We enjoy this track. It's very fast and I really enjoy qualifying here," Newman said. " But it's a handful in the race."
With four races remaining in the 10-race Chase for the championship, Newman is third, trailing leader Tony Stewart by 63 points and runner-up Jimmie Johnson by 48. Greg Biffle is fourth, 20 points behind Newman and Edwards fifth, another 66 back.
Stewart qualified 10th, Johnson 12th and Biffle 16th.
Among the other drivers in the Chase, sixth-place Rusty Wallace qualified 35th, seventh-place Mark Martin was fourth, eighth-place Kurt Busch was 30th, ninth-place Matt Kenseth was 23rd and 10th-place Jeremy Mayfield was 18th.

Newman has six top-10 finishes, including his only win of the season, in the seven Chase races, but he knows that consistency might not be enough to vie for the title.
"Our team can't rely on top-10 finishes alone to win this championship," he said. "We're very happy with our newfound consistency and the team is truly relaxed and confident in our abilities right now. But, a streak of top 10s is going to have to turn into a streak of top fives and a few wins to secure the championship."

 NASCAR Pink Slip

HAMPTON, Ga. -- Scott Wimmer says he was very surprised to open a letter saying he wasn't going to drive the No. 22 Dodge in 2006.
Wimmer, 29, had expected to return to Bill Davis Racing for a third Nextel Cup season.
"I didn't think I was going to be getting let go," Wimmer said. "[The team] said a couple of weeks ago I was going to be in the car. Whatever. It's racing. It's how this sport is."
With no Nextel Cup activity scheduled at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, Wimmer says he will use the time to try to find work for next season.
With just four races to go in the season, Wimmer wishes he had been let go earlier in the year. Since then, several prime jobs have been filled, but Wimmer says he can still find a quality Cup ride.
"There is a lot of stuff going on right now," Wimmer said. "I wasn't concentrating on anything and then as soon as I found out I was getting let go, I started looking on the Internet. Maybe someone else will decide to retire."
Wimmer knows that getting let go by BDR may prove beneficial to his career. The team has operated this year without any manufacturer support, and BDR has been embroiled in legal disputes with Dodge for much of the year.
Those distractions, coupled with the team's single-car status, have helped prevent it from scoring a single top 10 all year.
BDR announced plans for a second car with Michael Waltrip as the driver in 2006, and Wimmer says he was hoping things would improve.
"We had a lot of distractions over here and it's hard to overcome those when you're a single-car team," Wimmer said. "Next year, I thought, getting another car and maybe getting the Dodge lawsuit straightened out, I thought that would help us out a little bit, but I won't see the benefits of that."
Since it is so late in the season, Wimmer knows finding work in the Cup garage won't easy, which might force a return to the Busch Series, where he has five career wins.
"If worse come to worse, go back down in the Busch Series," Wimmer said. "I had a lot of success there. I think we'll find a solid Cup team and work well with them right off the bat."
